How to Obtain Voidwalker in World of Warcraft

2010 - 3 - 1

The voidwalker is obtained by warlocks in World of Warcraft at level 10 through class-specific quests. It is a 10-second-cast summon that requires 80 percent of the warlock's base mana and a soul shard. Soul shards are obtained by killing a mob or a player that gives the warlock experience or honor using the Drain Soul spell. Voidwalkers are large, blue demons and are used most effectively for tanking.
Alliance Faction
Step 1Speak with Lago Blackwrench, a gnome in the Forlorn Cavern in Ironforge, if you are a gnome warlock. He will give you a quest to visit Gakin Darkbinder, a human in the Slaughtered Lamb in the Mage Quarter of Stormwind City. If you are a human warlock, start with Gakin.

Step 2Accept Gakin's quest and retrieve Surena's Choker. Surena Caledon is located in the Brackwell Pumpkin Patch in the southeast section of Elwynn Forest. She is flanked by one aggressive mob. Use your imp to attack the mob and focus your efforts on killing Surena. Loot the choker from her corpse. Return to Gakin when you are finished and accept the next quest he offers.

Step 3Use the Bloodstone Choker Gakin gives you at a summoning circle to summon a voidwalker and defeat it. To get to a summoning circle, go down the spiral hallway behind Gakin and down the first set of stairs. Take a right, go down a second set of stairs, and go right around the corner. Go down another set of steps and make a left. In the middle of the hallway, there is a final set of steps: take them down and then go left. The summoning circle will be a glowing emblem on the floor.

Step 4Click the choker and a voidwalker will spawn. Kill it and return to Gakin, who will teach you how to summon a subdued version of the voidwalker.

Horde Faction
Step 1Speak with Ageron Kargal in the Gallow's End Tavern in Brill if you are an undead warlock; Ophek in Razor Hill if you are an orc warlock; or Talionia, a warlock trainer in the Sanctum in Murder Row of Silvermoon City if you are a blood elf warlock. Ageron will then ask you to speak with Carendin Halgar in the Magic Quarter in the Undercity. Ophek will ask you to speak with Gan'rul Bloodeye in the Cleft of Shadow in Orgrimmar. Talionia will ask you to travel to the intersection of the Dead Scar and Elrendar River, go just south of the river and find a blue, glowing voidstone.

Step 2If you are an undead warlock, retrieve Egalin's Grimoire for Carendin by traveling west of the Undercity to a partially destroyed tower called Nightmare Veil. Fight the mobs there and open a chest to obtain the grimoire. Return it to Carendin and accept his next quest. Click the Runes of Summoning he gives you on the shining purple circle below him to summon a voidwalker. Defeat it and talk to Carendin again. He will teach you how to summon a subdued version of the voidwalker.

Step 3If you are an orc warlock, retrieve the Tablet of Verga for Gan'rul by traveling east of Orgrimmar to the cave of Skull Rock. Follow the path leading up to the right and the tablet will be in a box at the end of the tunnel. Avoid looting mobs until you've obtained the tablet to keep them from respawning. Return it to Gan'rul and accept his next quest. Click the Glyphs of Summoning he gives you by the purple summoning circle in the Cleft of Shadow to summon a voidwalker. Kill it and return to Gan'rul. He will teach you how to summon a subdued version of the voidwalker.

Step 4If you are a blood elf warlock, follow Elrendar River to the west once you have retrieved the voidstone, until you reach Goldenmist Village. Find the tallest building in the center of the town and kill mobs until you reach the top, where there is a purple summoning circle. Click the voidstone to summon a voidwalker and defeat it. Return to Talionia in Silvermoon City and she will teach you to summon a subdued version of the voidwalker.
